CLEARWATER, Fla., April 3, 2023 — ASCERA, a software company focused on cyber risk scoring and compliance, is pleased to announce Russ Miller as a co-founder. As ASCERA’s Chief Technology Officer, Miller will be responsible for all product development. Miller’s engineering leadership will ensure that ASCERA’s suite of NIST-based CMMC software products more fully harnesses the power of automation to simplify, streamline and strengthen security compliance.
“We couldn’t be more excited to partner with Russ,” Jim Barge, Co-Founder and CEO, said. “He has a proven track record of successfully bringing commercial software products to market. That experience spans solutions for InfoSec, technology, and compliance end users. Russ is extremely accomplished, humble, and one of the most hardworking people I’ve met. Importantly, he shares our ethos of ensuring that ASCERA software products are as value-enhancing and user-friendly as possible.”
Miller brings over 30 years of experience leading product development at market-leading software companies. Most recently, he served as CTO, Secure Access at OPSWAT, where he led a global software engineering team to success in creating a broader Zero Trust solution. Previously, he served as CTO at Impulse Point, a cybersecurity company acquired by OPSWAT. Miller also operated as CTO and Technical Co-Founder of Sunview Software, producer of ChangeGear software for IT Service Management. Earlier in his career, Miller led product engineering teams at Blue Ocean Software (acquired by Intuit) and Quark, an early market leader in desktop publishing. Additionally, Miller serves as an advising partner at Stratawise, LLC.
ASCERA delivers the next generation of automation to real-time security risk scoring and cyber compliance. The software allows organizations to automatically collect data in their environment which quantifiably informs cyber maturity, risk, and compliance based upon the NIST 800-171 security framework. ASCERA is designed to prevent security, technology, and compliance professionals from having to manually and tediously collect, manage and update this information. In doing so, ASCERA’s automated collection of data from security tools and other software in an organization’s technology stack provides real-time, 24/7 status of security posture and compliance (versus manual information collection that is moment-in-time and subject to change or incorrect after collection). ASCERA eliminates hundreds of manhours of data collection, does so in real time, reduces human error, and provides much greater levels of security visibility and compliance adherence.
